Preparing for Airtightness Testing

Preparing for airtightness testing is simple and our dedicated technicians will take you through every step of the process. Prior to air testing the building must be suitably prepared to achieve a pressure differential to accurately test and realise the target air permeability rate.

Pre-Test Requirements

  • windows & doors fitted and sealed

  • gaps/holes in plasterboard filled

  • plumbing works installed & sealed

  • access to 240v or 110v electric supply

  • water supply turned on

  • all skirting boards sealed top & bottom


  • behind kitchen/bathroom fittings & joinery where plasterboard doesn’t meet floor

  • where pipework penetrates plasterboard

  • skirting boards not being sealed top & bottom

  • attic/room in roof dwarf walls not sealed to floor

  • light/electrical fittings not installed

  • pocket doors & openings into cavities
